Glaucia is currently Member & Contributor at Node.js Foundation and at React Community making contributions to Nodejs.org and Reactjs.org translations into Portuguese. Glaucia also belongs in quite inclusive Communities such as WoMakersCode – an organization focused on helping, inspiring and empowering even more women in technology help them to gain a job opportunity. Currently, Glaucia lives in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. And her greatest passion is sharing knowledge for all people! Outside of development, Glaucia enjoys learn new languages, love meeting different people and cultures, a movie buff and drummer!

– Start your development seamlessly in GitHub Codespaces without installing anything on your local machine.
– Create a new project using integrated tooling.
– Write a REST API using Test Driven Development and the comprehensive online code editor.
– Run and debug your Docker app—all from within Codespaces.
– Deploy to Azure with GitHub Actions on every “git push”.
– Scale all the way down to zero or scale out to meet global demand in response to HTTP requests or events.
– Alternatively, run your app as always-on background services.
This beginner-oriented session should empower everyone to write code on a production level.
Alfi Oloo
Alfi is a Product designer by trade, specialising in design systems. He is also a co-host on the “Edit Undo Podcast” and a Mentorship enthusiast and keynote speaker. Among other things, Alfi is a lifelong student in the field of mentorship, having played the role of a mentor at Jack Academy’s UX Bootcamp and a coordinator with Sprint, a student work-readiness program based in Pretoria, South Africa.

NodeJS on a JVM – the best of both worlds, or castle in the sky?
The Java ecosystem has evolved rapidly in the last couple of years, as has the IT industry as a whole more and more developers are having add JavaScript as a second language. In this talk, I will be investigating GraalVM and its polyglot promise in more detail, specifically from JavaScript and NodeJS point of view. GraalVM can (in theory) run unmodified Node.js applications, and can freely import and use NPM packages, including native ones, allowing interop between Java and JavaScript to a level never really attained by projects like Nashorn.

Majority of my time was spent in corporate, Siemens, Naspers (in different roles within the group) and Deloitte being some of the more well-known organisations. I have had the privilege to have been key in building some great projects during my time building software in various different languages. I have developed enterprise grade applications on .NET, Java and NodeJS platforms. I am proficient Visual Basic, C#, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, Groovy, Swift and have some experience with C/C++. I have recently joined forces with IMGN Africa as a senior engineer and product partner on a platform I have built which is entirely NodeJS / JS technology.
